5 Benefits of Microneedling

5 Benefits of Microneedling

Fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, age spots, acne scarring — these are examples of the many issues that we can tackle with microneedling treatments.

As a full service aesthetics practice, the team here at Ideal MedSpas is pleased to offer our clients the most effective services available to meet their cosmetic goals. Very much included in this mix are our microneedling treatments, which can breathe new life into aging and blemished skin.

To give you an idea about why so many of our clients choose microneedling, here are five benefits of the treatment.

1. Perks up sagging and wrinkling skin

As you age, your skin loses collagen, the protein responsible for its support. As a result, your skin begins to succumb to gravity and sags, as wrinkles and fine lines begin to take up permanent residence.

With microneedling, we create tiny micro channels across the surface of your skin which induce a collagen response that lifts and tightens your skin from below.

2. Improves surface problems

If your skin is becoming increasingly riddled with surface discolorations, such as age spots or melasma, we can target these blemishes with microneedling. When we pass the fine needles over the surface of your skin, they break up these areas of hyperpigmentation, paving the way for healthier skin cells.

3. Removes shades of the past

Acne scarring can be problematic right from the start, and as you age, this scarring can become more pronounced as your skin loses tone.

With microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, we can smooth out these marks by rebuilding your skin more evenly.

4. Has little to no downtime

While we’ve discussed the many issues that we can target through microneedling, let's switch gears and take a look at some of the procedural benefits of these treatments.

The microchannels that we create through microneedling are incredibly small, and most of our clients report that they have no issues with downtime. You may experience some redness and swelling, but these side effects are usually short-lived.

5. Is backed by science

It’s all well and good for us to tout the virtues of one of our treatments, but there’s ample research to back us up.

As an example, a systematic review of the literature on clinical trials and studies for microneedling was published in a report in the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery conducted. The authors concluded that, “Microneedling showed noteworthy results when used on its own and when combined with topical products or radiofrequency. When compared with other treatments, it showed similar results but was preferred due to minimal side effects and shorter downtime.”
